Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson hosted a hugely successful Child Poverty Conference in Belfast on behalf of the Political Group GUE/NGL of which she is a member in the European Parliament. The event which attracted a large number of representatives from many Community Groups and NGO’s heard from a number of invited speakers on the issue of Child Poverty including Skevi Koutara Koutouma from Cyprus, the present incumbent of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union as well as leading researchers in the field of Child Poverty such as Michelle Murphy (Social Justice Ireland) and Reka Tunyogi (Eurochild).
