Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said there is major concern in the construction industry over the impact of Brexit.
Martina Anderson said:
“I met today with the director of the Federation of Master Builders, the largest trade federation for the construction industry, to discuss their concerns over the Tory Brexit agenda.
“The industry, which is a major employer in the north, has serious concerns about the impact of Brexit.
“In particular they are concerned about the loss of EU funding and the knock-on effect on the industry, the implications of the removal of free movement of goods, services and people, a possible slow down in the housing market, and prospect of a drop in inward investment.
“This is just one of many industries worried about being dragged out of the EU against the will of the people.
“There is no doubt Brexit will be a disaster for the economy of the entire Ireland and the best way to avoid that is for the north to secure designated special status within the EU.”
