Anderson presents token of solidarity to Palestinian Prime Minister, Rami Hamdallah

During her visit to Palestine as part of an EU Elected Representatives delegation, Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson presented Palestine Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah with a token of solidarity in the form of a Free Derry/Free Palestine lapel badge with Tricolour.

Martina Anderson said:

“It was an honour to meet with Palestine Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and hear from him how the Palestinian people continue to have hope in the future in the face of such oppression. The determination by the Palestinian leadership to build a better future for their people is an inspiration. I was honoured to be able to present Prime Minister Hamdallah with a small token of solidarity with their struggle for self-determination.

During the visit Martina also met Minister of prisoners Issa Qarage receiving a briefing on 26 prisoners to be released today (Tuesday 29th October)

Ms Anderson commented

“Issues discussed included children imprisonment – Administrative detention (internment) –  breaking international law in kidnapping people such as Dr Dirar Abu Sisi who was snacthed in the Ukraine by Israeli intelligence (Mossad) and held in Israel in solitary confinement – prisoners’ health and the need for an agreement on prisoners such as was made during GFA for prisoners release – there are presently approximately 5000 prisoners in captivity.”
