Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson will host a public meeting in Belfast next week on the impact of Brexit on human and equality rights.

Speaking ahead of the event, Martina Anderson said:

“The Tory Brexit agenda will impact on all aspects of life in Ireland, but particularly on our human and equality rights here in the north.

“It is an extension of the Tory attack on human rights but it will go further as it will also remove the rights’ protections we have secured as a result of our EU membership.

“Next week I will be hosting a public meeting in Belfast looking at the impact Brexit will have on human and equality rights.

“It will also examine what those rights would look like under special status for the north within the EU.

“It will bring together a panel of experts, academics, human rights activists and others for what promises to be a lively and informative discussion.

“It will be held in the Balmoral Hotel, Belfast, on Thursday November 2 from 9.30am to 1.15pm.”
