Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has criticised the Israeli government for denying Irish human rights activists entry to Palestine.
Martina Anderson said:
“The decision by the Israeli’s to add human rights activists from the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign to its list of those banned from entering Palestine must be condemned.
“This group now joins many others from across the world, whose only aim is to support the people of Palestine.
“Irish human rights activists have a long history of supporting the people of Palestine in the face of Israeli aggression, intimidation and human rights abuses.
“It is unacceptable that they should be prevented and obstructed from carrying out this vital humanitarian work by Israel.
“The international community have a responsibility to challenge Israel over this ban and the Irish government in particular must do everything it can to ensure that Irish human rights activists are allowed to continue their work in Palestine and elsewhere.”
